Web 2.0 & Beyond PDF Print E-mail

Coined in 2004 by Tim O'Reilly, Web 2.0 alludes to a second generation of Internet-based capabilities such as widgets, mashups, wikis, social networking sites, and folksonomies that emphasize richer user experiences and collaborations.

The success rule for this new platform is to build applications that harness network to its core and provide the best experiences both in terms of magnitude and excellence. Our research group endeavors to understand how these technologies can be utilized and applied to business software. Initial efforts have focused on Rich Internet Applications (RIA) using resources such as widgets (interactive user controls), Ajax (technology for web interaction), and mashups (compound services that enhance the user experience).
